Privacy policy: Wild Open Image Tools
Browser extension for Chrome and Firefox ยท Effective 9 October 2026
Summary
Your files never leave your device. The extension processes images entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, and it has no accounts, analytics, ads, or remote code.
What the extension does with data
- Images you choose (by right-clicking an image, choosing "Images on this page", adding files, or capturing the visible tab) are read into the extension's own page, processed locally (metadata removal, compression, resizing, HEIC conversion, PDF creation), and saved to your Downloads folder. They are not sent to us or to any third party.
- Image addresses (URLs): to load an image you right-clicked, the extension requests it directly from the website that hosts it, just as your browser did to display it. No other server is involved.
- Metadata (such as GPS location or camera model) is read only to show it to you before it is removed. It is never stored or transmitted.
- The extension stores no browsing history, settings profile, or identifiers.
Permissions and why they're needed
contextMenus: adds the right-click menu items.downloads: saves the results you create to your Downloads folder.activeTabandscripting: when you click the toolbar button or menu, lets the extension list the images on the current tab, or capture what's visible in it. This access applies only to that tab, and only at that moment.- Optional site access: if a website doesn't allow its images to be read by extensions, the extension asks you for permission to read images from that one site. You can decline, or revoke it at any time in your browser's extension settings.
Third parties
None. The included libraries (pdf-lib for PDFs, libheif for HEIC) are bundled inside the extension and run offline.
